History

One of the oldest companies still designing and weaving silk fabrics in England, Vanners has a pedigree which stretches back to the early 1700’s.

Vanners moved to Sudbury, Suffolk in the 1860s and has occupied its large town-centre site since 1900. As well as state-of-the-art jacquard and dobby weaving, Vanners has its own yarn dyeing and fabric finishing facilities under one roof.

Because of its long history in the silk industry, Vanners has an amazing archive of woven designs – comprising over 100,000 designs. Vanners also owns the famous David Evans Archive – an extraordinary resource of over 25,000 print designs. Both archives cover the last hundred years or so, providing a continuous record of design and colour.

Vanners customers are world-wide, and at the top-end of their markets. They include designer brands, luxury and specialist retailers and exclusive wholesale suppliers.

Vanners is 100% owned by its management team. Our philosophy is to promote the long-term health of the company and all who work in it. To achieve that we put customer service and product quality at the top of our agenda.
